Modular High Voltage Boxes

Configurable power distribution for electrified vehicle platforms.

In today’s context of vehicle electrification, the ability to manage high‑voltage lines in a modular, safe and configurable way has become one of the key elements to ensure efficiency, reliability and speed in the development of HV architectures. In response to this need, MTA has developed a new generation of Modular High Voltage Boxes, patent pending, designed to offer unprecedented flexibility in terms of the number and positioning of inputs/outputs, featuring high‑voltage lines each protected by an individual fuse or activated through a contactor.

Primary and auxiliary

The Modular HV Primary Box is intended for primary loads such as inverters, brake resistor circuits and rechargeable energy storage systems, while the Modular HV Auxiliary Box is dedicated to auxiliary loads such as fans, OBCs and heaters. Both solutions — the mHVPB and the MmHVAB — integrate two versatile base modules, the In/Out module and the Out module, which can operate independently or be linked together to expand the available connections, ensuring maximum adaptability. Any combination of modules can be supplied with a single interconnected HVIL circuit for safety.

Configuration and integration

The modules are compatible with a wide range of fuses and contactors, allowing any configuration required by the application. Depending on the customer’s schematic, modules without dedicated protection can also be installed by using a shunt, without the need for further modifications. In addition, specific sensors (current, voltage and temperature) can be integrated. State of the art components, treatments and specialized materials ensure that both the Primary and Auxiliary Boxes offer high resistance to temperature and vibration, as well as IP67 and IP6K9K protection ratings.

Modularity in practice

The modules of the Primary and Auxiliary Boxes can be aligned and linked together to achieve the desired input/output configuration while maintaining full performance integrity. Electrical connections are made through busbars and screws, efficiently distributing power across each base module. The operation is carried out directly by MTA, which supplies the stacked version according to customer requirements. Thanks to their configurability and the possibility of being customized to meet application specific needs, these units confirm MTA’s commitment to providing reliable, safe and ready to use products, contributing concretely to the evolution of energy management systems in electrified vehicles.
