Our history

Seventy years ago this captain of industry started out with the production of fuse valves and flexible connections for contactors, thereby laying the foundation for what would be come a major supplier in the world vehicle market.

Today, MTA designs and produces a wide range of products to meet the needs of the main consumers, industrial and farming vehicle producers around the world.

1908 - 1954

The birth of a dream

The story of MTA is rooted in the vision and determination of Antonio Giulio Falchetti, a young technician who, starting from almost nothing, transformed experience, intuition, and sacrifice into a company destined to become a benchmark of Italian excellence. From the early challenges faced aboard ocean liners, through the war and the post‑war reconstruction, to the creation of his first businesses, Antonio Falchetti gradually built the foundations of what would one day become MTA.

The first milestones

Meccanotecnica Codognese grew quickly from a small fuse producer to a supplier for the automotive sector, supported by Antonio Giulio Falchetti and later by his sons, Umberto and Giuseppe. The company expanded its facilities in 1958 and 1966, increased its presence at industry events—debuting at the 1967 Turin Auto Show—and gained international recognition, leading to the registration of the MTA trademark in 1969.

The great expansion

Antonio Giulio Falchetti contributed to Codogno’s development by founding the Artisans’ Association in 1958, which he led for nearly twenty years. After his retirement in 1977, Meccanotecnica continued to expand with a new headquarters, became a joint stock company, and broadened its product range. In 1989, with the entry of Antonio Falchetti (born 1963), the company introduced a modern CAD/CAM design department, offering customers a complete process from design to production.

1991 - 2017

MTA becomes international

While remaining firmly rooted in Italy, MTA began a significant international expansion starting in 1995 with the creation of MTA Brasil, followed by new branches in Slovakia, India, China, the United States, Mexico, and Morocco. Each site was established to support local and global manufacturers directly, accompanying customers in their growth and strengthening the company’s global presence. Among these, MTA Morocco stands out as the most ambitious project, combining the production of electrical components with the development of electronics R&D and manufacturing.

Today

To keep pace with technological changes in the industry, MTA expanded its expertise in electronics with the acquisition of Digitek in 2008 and EDN for electric vehicle charging systems. In 2024, it also integrated a division of Calearo Antenne, entering the field of advanced connectivity technologies. Today, from the small workshop founded in 1954, MTA has grown into a global leader in electrical and electronic components, while remaining a family-owned company now led by the third and fourth generations of the Falchetti family.
