Many products for CNH combine harvesters

Codogno, Italy, March 6th, 2014

Codogno (Lodi), March 6th 2014. MTA, a leading developer and manufacturer of electromechanical and electronic components for major vehicle manufacturers, has recently broadened the range of products supplied to CNH, a company with which MTA have had a long-standing relationship for many years now. The newly added products will be used in some of the combine harvester models manufactured by the Group.

The first product for CNH is a new, extremely ergonomic Multi Function Handle (MFH) installed on the right-hand operator armrest that offers several buttons to provide full control of the operating parameters for head and grain unloading system. Featuring integrated electronics, this product has been designed for countless actuations, as you would expect of highly reliable machinery. Certain CNH models come with an Instrument Control Panel (ICP) – also integrated in the right-hand armrest – which is a multi-function “smart” panel with buttons to control certain functions of the combine.

Another innovative product for the CNH harvesters is the Lighting Control Panel (LCP), an overhead control panel for work lights with user-friendly design, which offers single-point control for all external lights to illuminate the work area in front of the machine and enable nighttime harvesting. Convenient buttons let operator change from work lights to road lights for driving on public roads.

Fred2 – an acronym for Flexible Reconfigurable Electronic Display – is an interactive TFT display with 10.4” touch screen designed for in-cab installation that MTA supplies to CNH for use as a dashboard or to supplement the existing dashboard in some applications information with key parameters and settings for certain functions useful for field activities, for instance in precision farming applications. When connected to a GPS system, it may be used to gather machine yield and yield mapping information, and enable automatic driving.
The ACM (Armrest Control Module) is an electronic control panel with a software entirely developed in-house by MTA that reads all push buttons, potentiometers, encoders and joysticks on certain armrests of CNH combine harvesters. Design is necessarily compact due to its location. The ACM can read up to 22 analog inputs and 14 digital inputs and its software was entirely developed by MTA using MATLAB as a development and code generation tool.

Certain CNH combine harvesters are equipped with a cluster called ICU3 (Instrument Cluster Unit 3), with a characteristic vertical design that allows for installation on the right-hand steering column in the cab. ICU 3 features two LCDs. The top LCD shows the combine harvester's key parameters, related messages and any alarms, whereas the bottom LCD can be set up from the keypad to display just the information the operator needs at any given time. The sturdy 15-key keypad is backlit with fiber optics and enables the operator to set several variable parameters related to the tractor through an innovative software co-designed with CNH.

With this important and diversified delivery to CNH, MTA confirms the growing presence of its electromechanical and electronic products in the agricultural field. In this sector, indeed, MTA collaborates, besides CNH, with other leading companies such as AGCO Group, Agritech, ARGO Group, JCB, John Deere e Same Deutz Fahr Group.
