MTA Corse: Visus - the brand new data and video logger

MotorSport Expo Tech, Modena October 13, 2009.

MTA Corse, the new division of the multinational company MTA, offers a wide range of systems based on very powerful architectures to various levels of motor sport competitions that use "real time" operating software systems that can handle large flows of information.

Data logging, telemetry, dashboards systems, and finishing line optical sensing systems are the main products in this sector, and are used at the highest level of sporting competitions, from F1 cars to MotoGP motorcycles. The experience gained in over twenty years of competitions allows MTA Corse to produce high performance and reliable modules, designed to satisfy customers who require highly structured products, and teams who prefer simpler modules which are easy to install. Alongside the historic data acquisition systems - Lizard, Cobra and Shark, MTA Corse now presents an innovative module, Visus, which incorporates the logging of various measurements such as temperature, pressure, rpm, accelerations, (just to name a few) with simultaneous recording of video signals, logged by the cameras it is linked to. In practice, Visus integrates the two data logger and video logger functions which work together in parallel and simultaneously. Simply assemble Visus inside the car and connect it to the various cameras; the default settings are for a maximum of 4 cameras that you can assemble at your own discretion at various points, for inside and outside views of the car, or motorcycle. The most interesting aspect of Visus which makes it the only product of its kind currently on the market, is the simultaneous logging of data and video images; once you have downloaded the data, you can make all necessary analysis, correlations and comparisons to understand any errors committed during the race and make improvements to driving and engine settings to optimize time and driving styles. The data and video logs can be downloaded easily thanks to the use of an Ethernet line. Besides the various two and four wheeled competitions, for which it was designed, the product lends itself to be used for fast and safe driving schools. In this case, once you have downloaded the data and images, you can compare the route taken by the teacher and that taken by the pupil, providing a valuable tool towards improving driving styles and all relative performances.
