Directives 2000/53 EC
This information has underlined how important is to achieve the target to reduce the harmful materials since the project stage. In order to reduce the pollution of the environment with some dangerous substances, with the Directive 2000/53/EC, it has been decided to stop with some heavy metals used for the components of the cars, this to start from July 1st 2003 . To start from this date, lead, mercury, cadmium and hexavalent chrome will not have to be used for the manufacturing of car components, with some exceptions listed in the Enclosure II of the Directive, updated in a second time with a decision of June 2002. In order to gather the information pertinent to the chemical composition of the materials used for the manufacturing of the automotive components, some of the most important Car Manufacturers, in cooperation with EDS, an American software house, have projected and realized IMDS (International Material Data System). IMDS is a data bank where, through Internet, the automotive supplier and sub suppliers send all the information. The components MTA produces are in conformity with the Directive 2000/53/EC and we document the conformity of our products by filling and sending , upon request, the Material Sheets of our products. Through the regular filling in and updating of the MDS (Material Data Sheets) we want to give a contribution to the management of the materials coming from the car demolitions and we confirm our engagement to reduce environment impact deriving from our production.
You can find more information about IMDS in the web site www.mdsystem.com.
It is available on line (it can be reached through this link) the possibility to ask for the Material Data Sheets (which will be sent through IMDS link).
This service has been introduced to satisfy in very short times the requests according to the Directive 2000/53/EC.
